Sonoran Desert

Project Description:

This project is a desert shelter in Yuma, Az. This design is meant for four researchers who temporarily will live there for researching. This is a design with nature, means that this shelter uses nature to be its energy. In the desert will have no electricity, but somehow the design will still provide heating and cooling.

Design Intent :

The design of the façade of this shelter is illustrating a mountain standing on a desert. This shelter uses passive solar system, which is solar chimney. The sun will heat up the walls on the south side, which is the chimney wall. It will make the hot air flows to the outside from the chimney and the cool air from the underground tunnel will flow into the building from the space on the floor.
